BMC Helix Operations Management Starter Service

This Service assists, enables, and configures BMC Helix Operations Management in a Customer’s environment. Installation of patrol agents, deployment packages, configuration of Role Based Access Control, and configuration of event and monitoring policies are also included.

What you get:

BMC Helix will perform the following:

  • Identify requirements:
    • Patrol Agent account requirements
    • User, Group, Role and Authentication requirements (Role Based Access Control (RBAC))
    • Operating System(s) requirements(O/Ss) that are to be monitored
    • Additional monitoring requirements using up to two monitoring solutions
    • O/S Threshold requirements
  • Assist configuring Role Based Access Control (RBAC; users, groups, roles, and authorization profiles)
    • Create the following:
      • Custom roles
      • Local groups
      • Local users (Only applicable when BMC Helix is not integrated with an identity management provider)
      • Authorization profile
  • Assist with configuring up to five Deployment Packages* and installing up to 10 Patrol Agents
    • Assist with resolving issues that may appear during the install process
  • Assist Customer with configuring a deployment package for up to two monitoring solutions, as identified requirements specified during the Workshop and deploy from BMC Helix Operations Management console
  • Assist with configuring the following:
    • Up to five BMC Helix Monitoring policies (O/S related)
    • Up to five BMC Helix Alarm policies (O/S related)
    • Up to two monitoring policies for the monitoring solutions
    • Up to seven best practices example of the following event policies:
      • Basic enrichment
      • Advanced enrichment
      • Blackout
      • Suppression
      • Correlation
      • Notification
    • Multivariate policy (OS related)
  • Demo dashboard capabilities using out of the box dashboards
    Schedule dashboard report to be sent to selected Customer users
    Assist with post go-live support, up to 3 days
  • Provide guidance on recommended additional services
  • Perform knowledge transfer
  • Provide a summarization document to Customer
  • Workshop to demonstrate features and gather Customer requirements

Pre-requisites:

  • Access BMC Helix REST API’s (Postman/Insomnia/Curl) for API based activities, either driven by Customer or BMC Helix externally
  • Customer to provide access to subject matter expert for selected applications/technologies to be monitored
  • Customer is aware local users cannot be created if BMC Helix is integrated with an identity management provider

Completion Criteria: BMC Helix will have completed the Service when the in-scope Service have been completed and the Deliverables have been reviewed in accordance with the Terms of Use and delivered to the Customer Project Manager. 

Definitions:

Deployment Package is a self-contained bundle that allows you to easily install or update monitoring solutions on your host computers.

Summarization Document - summary of activities carried out as part of this service

  • Country-Specific Staffing: Upon Customer’s request and BMC resource availability, BMC will deviate from BMC’s Standard Delivery model. BMC will work with Customer to understand and address their country-specific staffing requirements. The staffing choice from which country a BMC resource comes will be mutually agreed to by BMC and the Customer.
  • Standard Delivery: A mix of BMC consultants and project managers sourced from various BMC locations.
