BMC Helix Monitoring Starter Service

This Service will configure a Customer’s base Operating System (OS) (Windows, Linux, Unix, etc...) monitoring solution and assist with the installation and integration of up to 25 Patrol Agents*, providing overall visibility into a Customer’s environment. Customer can also choose to configure additional monitoring options as shown below.

What you get:

BMC will perform the following in one environment:

  • Conduct a workshop of up to two days for gathering monitoring requirements.
  • Configure up to five local users, two groups and two roles, if needed.
  • Assist with installing or automating deployment scripts for up to 25 BMC Patrol Agents on servers.
  • Configure up to 10 deployable monitoring packages on BMC Helix Operations Management.
  • Configure up to 10 monitoring policies for OS, log files, and processes.
  • Configure up to 10 alarm policies for threshold management and alert generation.
  • Perform knowledge transfer for the above listed activities.
  • Demonstration of the out of the box Dashboard capabilities.
  • Prepare Construction Document.
  • Prepare Solution Design Document.
  • Prepare System Test Plan Document.

BMC will perform the following in one environment for each additional monitoring option (1 BMC supported solution aka Knowledge Module (KM)).

  • Configure up to 5 deployable monitoring packages on BMC Helix Operations Management.
  • Configure up to 10 monitoring policies for the supported solution.
  • Configure up to 10 alarm policies for threshold management and alert generation.

Customer will be responsible for:

  • Conducting functional testing
  • Providing access and privileges on servers for BMC Patrol Agent deployment.
  • Providing access and privileges required for OS and other monitoring.

Deliverables: Using BMC’s standard methodology and templates, the following Deliverables are in scope for this project and will be delivered:

  • Design Document
  • Construction Document
  • System Test Plan Document

Completion Criteria: BMC will have completed the Service when the in-scope Service has been completed and the Deliverables have been reviewed in accordance with the Terms of Use and delivered to the Customer Project Manager. From delivery start date, the Service must be consumed and completed within 90 days. Consultant days must be booked in no less than 8-hour increments/full days.

Pre-requisites:

  • Firewall ports are required from monitoring environment
  • Customer to provide a privileged service account for monitoring IT infrastructure
  • Minimum version for BMC Patrol Agent is 20.08

Definitions:

PATROL Agent performs the following tasks:

  • Runs commands to collect system or application information; the information is collected according to applications and parameters defined in KMs
  • Stores information locally for retrieval by the PATROL Console
  • Loads specified KMs at start-up, runs menu commands, and updates InfoBoxes on the PATROL Console
  • Acts as a service provider for event management

Country-Specific Staffing: Upon Customer’s request and BMC resource availability, BMC will deviate from BMC’s Standard Delivery model. BMC will work with Customer to understand and address their country-specific staffing requirements. The staffing choice from which country a BMC resource comes from will be mutually agreed to by BMC and Customer.

Standard Delivery: A mix of BMC consultants and project managers sourced from various BMC locations.
